December 13, 2001:
Thomson and Gracenote have joined forces to launch a one-stop digital music solution that combines mp3PRO and the Gracenote CDDB® Music Recognition Service.

December 3, 2001: MAGIX's all in one mp3 and CD burning software "mp3 maker platinum" is available.

November 7, 2001: Steinberg's all in one mp3 and CD burning software "my mp3PRO" is now available.

October 3, 2001: MP3.com and Thomson launch mp3PRO on MP3.com web site. Within the co-branded area will be music categories ranging from classical to rock, with each genre offering scores of individual selections.

September 25 , 2001: mp3PRO Zone got it's own URL at http://www.mp3PROzone.com.

September 20, 2001: STMicroelectronics is developing a DSP-based decoder chip for Coding Technologies' new mp3PRO standard. The new decoder chips are destined for portable music players and are expected to reach the market in early 2002.

September 19, 2001: Texas Instruments is first hardware company to license new mp3PRO digital audio format. Support for mp3PRO on TI's DSP is scheduled to be available by the end of this year.

September 10 , 2001: Thomson today announced the availability of a full range of tools that will enable music fans to easily enjoy the benefits of mp3PRO: content through MP3.com, consumer encoding software through Ahead Software, a WinAmp playback plug-in, and digital rights management (DRM) from Intertrust.

August 27 , 2001: Ahead Software AG has now upgraded its world leading CD/DVD Recording application Nero 5.5 with full support for mp3PRO. "Nero will allow consumers to enjoy all the options of the mp3PRO-Codec, in particular the high quality encoding at 80 and 96 kbps".

August 25 , 2001: Thomson announced the LYRA Personal Jukebox PDP 2800 with full mp3PRO support for November 2001.

• 300 hours of recorded music using mp3PRO

June 25 , 2001: Thomson charts more than half a million downloads for mp3PRO demonstration software.

June 14 , 2001: Thomson Inc. and Coding Technologies launch new mp3PRO technology with free download availability of RCA Demo mp3PRO Player/Encoder.

January 9, 2001: Thomson and Coding Technologies today announced the launch of a new, enhanced mp3 coder called "mp3PRO". mp3PRO is developed by Coding Technologies and will be licensed by Thomson. By utilizing Coding Technologies' proprietary codec enhancement technology, mp3PRO offers substantially improved compression performance while maintaining compatibility with the existing mp3 format. Soft- and hardware implementations will be available from mid 2001 on.
